BLUEGRASS LINKS DIRECTIONS TO RIVERBEND
RIVERBEND MUSIC CAMP RIVERBEND BLUEGRASS BAND

One of the best things about Riverbend is that you don't have to wait for the music on stage to have a good time. Folks
began arriving more than two weeks before our first day of stage performances at Riverbend Bluegrass Festival and it wasn't
long after the first ones came in that we had our first jam session in the campground. After this, there was daily
"pickin' "in the park and lots of fun as everyone swapped stories, shared their newest jokes or just caught up on the
latest "goin's ons" since the last time they were together.
Goldwing Express made their first appearance at Riverbend since 2003. The Gary Waldrep Band,
always a crowd favorite, arrived in the early morning hours (around 1:00 am) Friday,
but they were more than ready to present an outstanding show Friday evening. Francis Mooney &Fontanna Sunset,
Lorraine Jordan & Carolina Road and The Robert Wilson Family all entertained the crowd both on and off the stage.
Francis, Lorraine and Mindi Rakestraw of the Gary Waldrep Band are all members of the 2006 IBMA
award winning "Daughters of Bluegrass" project and got together to perform some of the songs
from the cd on stage Saturday. And Riverbend Bluegrass Band debuted the new cd "Back in the Game".
It was a great weekend with fine weather and even better music.
